President Stevo Pendarovski received the letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of North Macedonia, Larysa Dir.

“Being the Ambassador of Ukraine in these difficult times for the country, which is a victim of brutal aggression by the Russian Federation, is an exceptional task. You are coming to a friendly country that sympathizes with you every day, and therefore I assure you that you will have our full support, and all our institutions will facilitate your work and will try to help in all possible ways”, President Pendarovski said in his address at the ceremony of presentation of the letters of credence by Ambassador Dir.

The President said that the Republic of North Macedonia fully and unequivocally supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within its borders until 2014.

“Our country has so far provided various types of assistance to the friendly Ukrainian people, and rest assured that we will continue to do so as long as necessary. We openly supported your country in obtaining candidate status for EU membership. We can only wish to the friendly Ukrainian people, that the period before the start of negotiations with the EU is with less obstacles and lasts shorter than the one we have experienced”, President Pendarovski said in his address.

He expressed confidence that North Macedonia and Ukraine will continue the positive development trend of relations and cooperation in all areas and emphasized our country’s interest in strengthening economic ties, which he hoped would help in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed her gratitude for the help that North Macedonia gives to Ukraine, as well as for the support of the international initiative “The Crimea Platform”.

“The help from the competent authorities, concerned citizens and entrepreneurs is very active. North Macedonia has already transferred more than 230 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and in addition provided the much-needed material and technical assistance to Ukraine in the military – technical field. North Macedonia is on the right side of history: confidently moving towards a membership in the European Union, approving important decisions in NATO, joining vitally important security resolutions in the UN. I firmly believe that your country, which will chair the OSCE next year, together with Ukraine, will always defend our common civilizational values”, Ambassador Dir said in her address, adding that only together we will be able to build a new and more effective security architecture in Europe.

The Ukrainian Ambassador expressed confidence that the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to develop dynamically and that this will help our nations become even closer and value mutual support even more.

“Democracy, humanism, European values ​​are exactly what unites our countries and our citizens. Therefore, we have to go into our common European future based on the principles of mutual respect and strong friendship”, Ambassador Dir said.

President Pendarovski wished Ambassador Dir successful performance of the important diplomatic mission.
