The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, talked today via video link with Dr. Angelcho Andonovski, Director of the Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Children – Kozle.
In the conversation, Dr. Andonovski informed President Pendarovski about the functioning of the hospital, which from the very beginning of the pandemic of the COVID 19 virus, is a health institution where children who are suspected of having or are infected with the virus are treated, as well as children with high fever and lung problems. That is, as Dr. Andonovski explained, in addition to regular patients, within the hospital there is a separate COVID department and the Institute is a KOVID 2 center.
So far, as Dr. Andonovski pointed out in the conversation, more than 50 children have been tested in the hospital. Of these, 4 were positive for the virus. The youngest children diagnosed were 4 months old and the oldest was 15 years old. At the moment, as Dr. Andonovski said, 3 children who are suspected of having the virus, including a baby born 16 days ago, have been hospitalized in the hospital in Kozle. According to Dr. Andonovski, children with the virus have mild symptoms and face no serious complications. This, as Dr. Andonovski said, is largely a result of physical distance, i.e. children stay at home with their parents and do not attend kindergarten or school.
The Kozle Institute for Respiratory Diseases, according to Director Andonovski, is still functioning smoothly under these extraordinary circumstances and has sufficient medical and non-medical staff. So far, no one among the employees is infected with the COVID 19 virus.
In today’s conversation, President Pendarovski expressed his support and gratitude for the ongoing selfless engagement of Dr. Andonovski as Director of the Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Children – Kozle, but also of all employees in this health institution.
“First of all, I wish all the staff of the Institute to stay alive and healthy. To help. Huge gratitude on behalf of all citizens for helping our loved and the youngest ones. I wish you do not have many COVID 19 cases in the future. You and all the staff at the hospital have our full support. I really congratulate you for the extraordinary efforts in the past 2 months”, President Pendarovski said in today’s video conversation with Dr. Angelcho Andonovski, Director of the Institute for Respiratory Diseases in Children – Kozle.
