President Stevo Pendarovski visited today the Municipal Primary School “Edinstvo” in Gostivar, where he was introduced to the conditions and ways of inclusive education and schooling.
During the visit, the educated staff informed President Pendarovski that this school is attended by seven children with disabilities, who, in addition to regular classes, have the opportunity for customized and individual lessons with professional staff, i.e. with a special education teacher and a psychologist. At the same time, it was pointed out that the children have the opportunity to use the newly adapted classroom, which is equipped with the necessary props, didactic materials and resources, and that educational assistants have already been provided to work with two of the children.
President Pendarovski welcomed the steps taken in the school and expressed his expectation that the newly created conditions will contribute to the development of skills and abilities among children with different developmental processes, which will encourage their educational inclusion. In that direction, President Pendarovski once again emphasized the importance of sensitizing the public on these issues and pointed out that joint efforts should be taken in all other schools in the country, with the aim of ensuring equal access and acceptance of children with atypical development in regular education.
This is the second visit of President Pendarovski to the Municipal Primary School “Edinstvo” in Gostivar, after he was introduced in February this year to the challenges faced by the family of the student with atypical development, Embla Ademi, in the education process and the possibilities for overcoming them.
Today, as part of his visit to the school, President Pendarovski met with Embla’s parents, who thanked him for his overall support and presented him with a joint photo with Embla from the previous visit as a sign of gratitude.
