The President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, had a telephone conversation today with Mike Pompeo, Secretary of State of the United States of America.
In the conversation, on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia and on his personal behalf, President Pendarovski expressed his condolences on the death of over 50,000 US citizens as a result of COVID-19 and expressed solidarity with the American people.
In this context, the two interlocutors exchanged information on the current situation regarding the fight against the CODIV-19 pandemic, with President Pendarovski thanking Secretary of State Pompeo for the US assistance in dealing with the virus, which amounts to over one million US dollars. At the same time, the President stressed that the assistance is a confirmation of the solidarity and friendship of the two countries in a time of serious challenges facing all humanity.
Moreover, President Pendarovski thanked Secretary Pompeo for the congratulations on North Macedonia’s membership in NATO, as well as on the overall US support, especially the US diplomacy, in fulfilling this strategic goal.
President Pendarovski briefed Secretary of State Pompeo on the latest developments in the region, with a special focus on the Kosovo issue.
