President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with Gordana Sofija and Hannes Jaeckl, CEOs of the company “Man and Mountain” and organizers of the eco-action “GENERALKA WEEKEND”.
The meeting discussed the goals and activities for this event, as well as the preparations for its annual edition. The interlocutors informed that this is a national event that is held in all municipalities in the country on the second weekend of May. It includes volunteers, participants from the civil and business sector, educational institutions, municipal and other public enterprises, sports and pension clubs, local and urban communities, national parks, who clean the environment and select the collected waste.
The President praised the organizers, emphasizing that their engagement significantly contributes to raising public awareness of the need for waste selection and recycling. According to her, such initiatives not only help protect the environment, but also inspire citizens to be carriers of positive changes in their community by creating a culture of environmental responsibility.
Emphasizing that the partnership with several socially responsible companies gives the action additional value, the President emphasized the importance of the contribution of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the PE Makedonski Sumi, which participate by planting trees in several locations in the country.
The President expressed her willingness to join the activities of this initiative and other actions and events related to increasing environmental awareness, emphasizing that joint mass activity in nature protection is needed.
Last year, around 20,000 volunteers participated in this environmental action at more than 400 locations in all municipalities in the country and collected more than 300,000 kilograms of waste.
