President Siljanovska-Davkova receives the Ambassador of Japan, Kazuya Otsuka, in a farewell meeting

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today in a farewell meeting the Ambassador of Japan, Kazuya Otsuka.

They once again confirmed that the relations between the two countries, despite the geographical distance, are close and friendly and expressed determination and readiness for future cooperation in various areas, including economy and culture.

The President stressed the importance of continued Japanese support and assistance for our overall development and welcomed new forms of cultural cooperation.

She out a special emphasized on the unique way of celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of Macedonian-Japanese cooperation by organizing thirty different events throughout Macedonia.

She emphasized the importance of academic cooperation for development of our education and science and especially thanked for the study of the Macedonian language at the Takanawa High School in Tokyo, as an open recognition of the Macedonian national and cultural identity.

In anticipation of the EXPO OSAKA 2025, the Japanese Ambassador welcomed the participation of Macedonian artists, who will present themselves with an exhibition of the project of the famous Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, who played an important role in the reconstruction and construction of Skopje, after the catastrophic earthquake in 1963, leaving a lasting mark on the contemporary Macedonian architecture.

The President expressed recognition and special respect to Ambassador Otsuka for the personification and practice of traditional and cultural diplomacy through his numerous activities and events.

Thanking him for his exceptional diplomatic engagement in deepening and strengthening Macedonian-Japanese relations, the President wished him success and happiness in facing future obligations and challenges.
