President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the Director of the Crisis Management Center, Stojance Angelov.
The meeting discussed the necessity of reforms in the crisis management system, the need for amendments to the Crisis Management Law, as well as the government’s decision to merge the Protection and Rescue Directorate and the Crisis Management Center.
The Director of the Crisis Management Center, Angelov, introduced the President to the systemic problems and shortcomings they face, the inefficiency and overlapping of their competences with the functions of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue.
President Siljanovska Davkova said that the fires that caught the country confirmed critical deficiencies in the crisis management system, and stressed the urgent need for essential reorganization and comprehensive reforms, which is of key importance for efficient handling and appropriate response in crisis situations.
The meeting emphasized the importance of further coordination and cooperation between the President, the Government, the Army and all relevant domestic and international institutions in order to act promptly and appropriately in crisis situations.
At the meeting, Director Angelov also informed about the current situation with the fires, as well as the measures and activities that are being undertaken to bring them under control and put them out.
