At the initiative of the President’s Wife, Ms. Elizabeta Gjorgievska, and in cooperation with professors at the Institute of Clothing Design and Engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy at UKIM, last night in the President’s Cabinet the event “Three Generations of Macedonian Fashion – Transfer of Knowledge” was held.
In her address to the audience, the President’s Wife said that the cooperation with the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy began with the opening of the Office of the President MladiHub, which exhibited creations of young students from this Faculty.
“Furthermore, this support continues which is evident in today’s event “Three Generations of Fashion”, which aims to return to the basics of design in North Macedonia, to show the trends in the past, the current situation, but we will also have the opportunity to see the perspectives of the young generations”, Ms. Gjorgievska said.
At the event, professor and designer Lidija Georgieva spoke about the work with the design students in the past eight years, while the retired professor and costume designer Zorka Todorova-Mladenovic presented her book “How to Become a Fashion Designer” and gave a presentation on fashion over the past few decades.
The graduates of the Institute for Clothing Design and Engineering at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, Ljubica Bekarova and Katerina Dimitrovska presented to the guests some of their creations they presented themselves with at fashion events abroad, and presented the most current ecological moment in the design and care for the environment through their creations of recycled material.
The purpose of this event, which was attended by different generations of fashion lovers and creators in our country, is to promote young designers, to support the development and promotion of Macedonian design and thus the protection of cultural heritage and promotion of the textile industry that has an important share in the development of the economy in the country.
