President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Gregor Presker.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the country’s accession process for membership in the European Union, with the President saying that the Macedonian European integration must be based on the criteria that apply to other candidates.
In that direction, the President reaffirmed the position that the European integration process of the country should take place according to the merit principle and with consistent implementation of the Copenhagen criteria.
At the meeting, the interlocutors expressed readiness for further intensification of bilateral cooperation and joint regional action with the aim of economic prosperity and coping with global challenges.
Moreover, it was concluded that Slovenia is one of the most important trading partners and investors in the country, but that the potential for economic cooperation has not been fully utilized, so its intensification should be one of the main priorities of both countries in the future.
The interlocutors confirmed their commitment to further cooperation within the framework of international organizations and promotion of common values of democracy, peace and sustainable development on the global stage.
