President Stevo Pendarovski received today the ultramarathon runner, Katerina Shipovic, the first Macedonian athlete who ran the 246-kilometer Spartathlon ultramarathon race from Athens to Sparta.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski was introduced to the preparations and implementation of the participation in the Spartathlon, which is counted among the 10 most difficult ultramarathon races in the world.
President Pendarovski congratulated Shipovic for the completed race, noting that her dedication and perseverance should be an example for all young athletes and sportsmen in general. According to President Pendarovski, the fact that Shipovic, in addition to his professional career, is successfully involved in athletics, with a focus on long-distance races – marathons, ultramarathons and mountain races, is particularly impressive and is among the most trophy-winning Macedonian athletes.
