Siljanovska-Davkova meets with the Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Marcin Czepelak

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, met with the Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Marcin Czepelak, where the President expressed concern about the current security situation in the world and stressed the need for a just and lasting peace.

 

According to the President, solutions to today’s challenges must be sought within the framework of the multilateral system, while advocating for strengthening the role of the General Assembly and reviewing the decision-making mechanisms of the Security Council.

In a time of increased global tensions, she assessed, institutions such as the Permanent Court of Arbitration are necessary for preserving international peace and stability. She pointed out that for all states, and especially small and medium-sized ones, respect for international law is not only a legal obligation, but also a moral imperative.

The President stressed our readiness to strengthen cooperation with the PCA through the signing of memoranda of understanding, developing partnerships with universities and opportunities for practice for young professionals in the field of international law, which was agreed upon by the Secretary General of the court, Marcin Czepelak. He introduced the President to the history of the Peace Palace, which houses the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the work of the court and the decision-making procedures.
