President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, Rafael Soriano Ortiz.
At the ceremony of handing over the Letters of Credence, President Siljanovska Davkova assessed that the two friendly countries are connected by 30 years of rich diplomatic relations, traditional and sincere friendship, based on diverse cooperation, mutual respect and open approach, pointing out that such joint determination represents another bridge in building stronger friendly relations between the two countries.
“I take this opportunity to express my respect for the previous support that Spain has given to our European integration process. We are strongly committed to implementing domestic reforms with fresh energy. The support of Spain is of particular importance for achieving the reform goals. I expect, in the coming period, the support to continue to grow, and, in that sense, I hope that the European Union will also show a clearer commitment to the enlargement”, President Siljanovska Davkova said, noting that Spain is an important partner and NATO ally, a country that stands for same goals as our country.
President Siljanovska Davkova expressed confidence that a successful period lies ahead for both countries, with significant opportunities for strengthening cooperation, both bilaterally and internationally.
In his address, Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz said that in terms of the accession aspirations of our country, Spain is a firm defender of the enlargement process.
“We are in front of a decisive stage of this process, which we must take advantage of. My country defends a European policy that has, as an essential component, the expansion of the European family with the aim of creating a common space of rules and values that will ensure the well-being of our citizens, as well as our successful participation in the challenges of globalization”, Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz said.
The Spanish Ambassador said that one of their priorities is educational and cultural cooperation, pointing out the promotion of university exchanges, joint research and the study of the Spanish language as primary goals, as well as the creation of cultural spaces for exchange and shared reflection, which will contributed to better mutual knowledge.
President Siljanovska Davkova thanked Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz for speaking in Macedonian at the beginning and end of his address at the ceremony and wished him a successful performance of his responsible office.
