The Wife of the President, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, continuing last year’s tradition, this year again was patron of the event “One Family” organized by the SOS Children’s Village.

Pointing out that this event, on the eve of the International Day of Human Solidarity – December 20, pays tribute to all friends, donors and supporters of SOS Children’s Village, Gjorgievska said that it is an opportunity to affirm the importance of solidarity, above all through the example of the activities of the SOS Children’s Village, but also to talk about the importance of solidarity in our society.

“I must stress the importance of the corporate sector, as well as the numerous individuals who show their humanity and solidarity in action. Thanks to the solidarity and concrete assistance from companies and individuals, SOS Children’s Village successfully performs its basic function – care for children at risk and their support, through a family model for alternative child care, as well as through implementation of programs for social prevention”, Gjorgievska said in her address to the attendees of this hybrid event.

Speaking about the changes that have taken place in the entire social life due to the pandemic of Covid-19, the Wife of President Gjorgievska underlined that this situation puts to the test the solidarity, responsibility, humanity and altruism of each individual.

“Let us leave selfishness behind and help with a warm word, with a smile, by using our free time for volunteer engagements for the benefit of the community. To open our hearts and give way to altruism and to selflessly and unreservedly help and be generous. Let us show in action that regardless of gender, age, social status, religious, ethnic or political affiliation, we are all one family and every member of our family is equally important”, Gjorgievska added.

In this regard, Gjorgievska emphasized the superhuman efforts made by health professionals to save the health and lives of their patients.

“Let us show solidarity with them by adhering to measures to preserve public health. Given the fact that in some countries immunization of the population has already begun, and the vaccine will soon come to us, to endure to the end and show responsibility, discipline, care and solidarity”, the President’s wife, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, said.

At today’s event “One Family” of SOS Children’s Village, corporate and individual donors who supported the SOS Children’s Village in 2020 were awarded prizes and recognitions. There was an exhibition of works of art by the young artist Martin Burovski, who grew up under the care of SOS Children’s Village. The exhibition, which was officially opened by the Austrian Ambassador to our country, Georg Voutsas, will be available to citizens until December 25.
