The Wife of the President, Elizabeta Gjorgievska, on the occasion of the month dedicated to raising awareness about the presence and acceptance of people with autism, visited today the PHI Institute for Rehabilitation of Hearing, Speech and Voice – Skopje.
Today’s visit is aimed at getting acquainted with the work and challenges faced by the Institution and is a sign of support for people with autism spectrum disorders.
During the visit, the Director of the PHI Institute for Rehabilitation of Hearing, Speech and Voice – Skopje, Dr. Sci. Silvana Filipova, introduced the President’s Wife to the work of the Institute, and visited the speech therapy office, the audiometry office, the office for early speech and language intervention and the deafness office. Gjorgievska also visited the rehabilitation department for children with severe developmental disorders, children with autism spectrum disorders and children with sensory dysfunctions.
“Raising public awareness about autism is very important for early diagnosis and early intervention in people with autism spectrum disorders. Our support can contribute to improving the quality of life and greater inclusion of these people, mostly children”, Gjorgievska said.
PHI Institute for Rehabilitation of Hearing, Speech and Voice – Skopje is a specialized and accredited health institution that performs detection, diagnosis, early intervention and treatment of all types of pathology in verbal communication in children and adults. Currently, a total of 56 children with autism spectrum disorders and children with sensory dysfunctions are attending rehabilitation treatment in this institution.
