President Stevo Pendarovski received today delegations from the Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The overall cooperation between the constitutional courts of the two countries was discussed at the meeting, with President Pendarovski expressing support for their initiatives and welcoming the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two courts, signed in Macedonian, Bulgarian and English.
At the meeting, President Pendarovski pointed out that the work of the constitutional judiciary is crucial in building a functioning rule of law and protection of human rights. The possibility of introducing a constitutional lawsuit in both countries was also discussed at the meeting.
President Pendarovski stressed that Bulgaria, as an EU member state, has experience in functioning in a complex legal order and therefore their experience in cooperation with the EU Court of Justice will be of great benefit to the European integration process of North Macedonia.
