President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, as part of the celebration of the 153rd anniversary of the birth of Goce Delcev, visited the Goce Delcev University in Stip today.
The President laid flowers at the monument to Goce Delcev, posted in front of the Rectorate of the University.
She attended the ceremonial program in honor of the birth of the Macedonian revolutionary and had a meeting with the Rector of the Goce Delcev University, Prof. Dr. Dejan Mirakovski, which was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Stip, Ivan Jordanov, MPs, deans from the Rectorate Administration and representatives of the University Student Assembly.
Pointing out that as a professor today she is in the right place, at the University named after Goce, President Siljanovska-Davkova said in a statement to the media that Goce Delcev cannot be separated from the Macedonian people, that even after 153 years he is still alive, and that Goce’s deeds will continue for the next 153 years.
She stressed the unbreakable bond between Goce and the Macedonian Republic.
Calling him a teacher above all the teachers, the President said that the important role Goce Delcev played is due not only to his courage as a revolutionary and freedom fighter of the Macedonian people, but also to his progressive thought, which is still relevant today.
Mentioning his recognizable messages and quotes, she added that Delcev left us a legacy to compete culturally, because that is the strength of small nations.
During her visit to the city, the President also visited the Museum of VMRO Activists from Stip and the Stip Region.
