President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, as part of her official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a tete-a-tete meeting with the President of the Republic, Ilham Aliyev, in Baku today, and a plenary meeting of the two delegations was also held.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan has an important role on the international stage, on the geopolitical stage, also because of its wealth in gas, which for countries whose commitment is transition to renewable sources, like ours, cooperation with this country would be of exceptional importance”, the President said after the meeting, who also expressed her satisfaction with her visit to Baku.
After the last meeting, I am here again for a Forum where key world problems will be discussed, and this moment is good because this year we celebrate 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations – a real moment for such a meeting, she said, expressing the expectation that the two countries will sign a Declaration that will lead to the establishment or signing of a Cooperation Agreement.
“That will not only mean Azerbaijani assistance to us in terms of gas, but it will also open space for economic cooperation”, she said and advocated abolition of visas for diplomatic and official passports.
“That strange situation with visas for diplomatic and official passports should be put to an end immediately. I believe that such a situation does not suit anyone, and its abolition will lead to the rapprochement of our peoples”, she assessed.
Emphasizing her deep belief in the power of cultural diplomacy, in her statement, President Siljanovska-Davkova indicated her readiness to further deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan in the fields of science, tourism, and the economy.
According to her, today’s official visit will be an additional incentive for further strengthening mutual relations, exchange of experiences and establishment of much stronger cooperation, primarily referring to the Strategic Cooperation Agreement.
