Siljanovska Davkova – Radev: Bilateral disputes should be resolved based on the framework of EU principles and values

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on the sidelines of the Climate Change Conference – COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In the talks, which lasted for an hour and took place in a constructive atmosphere, the need to improve the Macedonian-Bulgarian relations, to overcome the open issues between the two countries, as well as the possibilities for deepening and intensifying bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest were discussed.

The interlocutors presented their positions regarding the possible solutions to the challenges of the Macedonian European integration. The President underlined the importance of continuing the bilateral political dialogue at all levels and indicated that the positions and interests of both sides should be respected and that the resolution of bilateral disputes should be within the framework of the basic values and principles of the European Union.

She said that relations should be developed on the basis of mutual respect, support and active cooperation, which will contribute to the strengthening of trust and friendship between the two peoples.

The Bulgarian President Radev pointed to the need to quickly resolve open issues, as well as the need to establish good relations in all areas of mutual interest for easier mutual understanding.

At the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to organize official visits that will specify the commitments for better overall cooperation between the two countries.
