President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, with a feeling of deep and sincere concern, first visited the Pirogov Hospital in Sofia, where Macedonian citizens injured in the tragic fire in Kocani are being treated.
During the visit, the President met with the Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, the Deputy Director of the hospital, Prof. Dr. Nikolaj Gabrovski, and the Head of the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maja Argirova.
In the talks with them, she was informed that the health condition of the eight Macedonian patients is stable, that they are under constant supervision by top, experienced doctors, and that the recovery process is progressing.
In the presence of a Macedonian doctor, the President was able to have a longer conversation with the closest relatives of the Macedonian patients. They spoke with praise of the hospital staff and expressed joy at the visibly improved condition of their loved ones.
The President expressed heartfelt gratitude for Bulgaria’s timely, professional and selfless assistance. She emphasized that it is precisely in moments of great pain and national sorrow that true friends are recognized, emphasizing that Bulgarian humanity and solidarity will remain engraved in the collective memory of the Macedonian people.
During the visit, she met with some of the Bulgarian medical teams that directly participated in providing emergency medical assistance, expressing special gratitude to them for their sacrifice, humanity and professionalism.
Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bulgaria for the coordinated and expertly led intervention, the President said that their noble mission is a true embodiment of medical ethics, solidarity and humanity. These values, according to her, will remain the foundation of mutual respect and sincere friendship between the two close peoples, Bulgarian and Macedonian.
