President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the Special Representative of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Countries of the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.
The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, the process of Macedonian European integration, as well as the current situation in the Western Balkans region through the prism of European perspectives.
President Siljanovska Davkova welcomed the intensive political dialogue with Germany, as one of our closest allies and partners, and expressed full readiness for further successful cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
The President thanked the German authorities for the principled and vocal support of Macedonian European integration, for the Resolution of the German Bundestag and their overall engagement through the Berlin process, and expressed her expectation for further support, stressing that the enlargement of the Union is in the interest of the political, security and economic stability of the entire region.
She pointed out the awareness of the obligations arising from international agreements and emphasized that we attach great importance to maintaining good neighborly relations, but at the same time she expressed the expectations of the citizens that the European integration process will be evaluated fairly, based on the Copenhagen criteria.
