Siljanovska-Davkova receives the Spanish Ambassador and UN representatives ahead of the Conference in Seville

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, Rafael Soriano Ortiz, the UN Resident Coordinator, Rita Colombia, and the UNDP Representative in Skopje, Armen Grigoryan, ahead of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), which will be held under the auspices of the UN in Seville, Spain, in which Siljanovska-Davkova will participate.

At the meeting, the President was briefed on the goals, expectations and importance of the Conference. The interlocutors assessed the leadership gathering in Seville as a good opportunity to find solutions to address the financial challenges in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals. The Conference, which is to be attended by more than 50 heads of state and government, is expected to produce a Platform for Action, with specific initiatives and finances.

Siljanovska-Davkova believes that without adequate financial resources, it is not possible to implement the 2030 Agenda. She pointed out the need to reform the international financial architecture, support developing countries and provide greater access to finance. The President sees the investment incentive of the private sector and public-private partnerships as a solution for providing the necessary funds. Emphasizing the clear goals, the President stressed the essential importance of multilateral and regional cooperation.

The UN representatives welcomed the strong commitment of our country to the 2030 Agenda, as well as the integration of sustainable development goals into the national strategies and local development plans. They expressed satisfaction with the success of the Green Financing Facility, which enables investments by small and medium-sized enterprises in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. The President expressed readiness to further expand bilateral relations with Spain and continue the excellent cooperation with UN institutions.
