President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of Canada, resident in Belgrade, Michelle Cameron.
Welcoming Ambassador Cameron, President Siljanovska Davkova expressed hope at the ceremony of presenting the credentials that during the Ambassador’s term new opportunities will open for expanding cooperation and deepening friendship between the two peoples and expressed her expectation for strengthening ties between the two countries.
“On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude for the support that Canada provides to my country in the process of reforms and our integration into the EU, as well as for our partnership and cooperation within NATO. That partnership is particularly important to us and we deeply appreciate it. At a time when the world is facing numerous challenges, our cooperation and solidarity are more important than ever”, President Siljanovska Davkova said, pointing to the opportunities for increasing economic cooperation, trade and investments, as well as cooperation in the field of education.
“Young generations of students, as well as our administration and institutions, need to acquire new knowledge, adopt advanced methods and solutions from the Canadian system, which can be applied in our country, and with the aim of more efficient management and greater progress of the country in every field”, President Siljanovska Davkova said.
Ambassador Cameron emphasized the support that Canada provides to our country, highlighting the partnership within NATO.
“As partners in NATO, our countries are working together to overcome the generational challenge for the security of Europe – and the world”, Ambassador Cameron said, extending congratulations for the leadership role in NATO, with the appointment of a Macedonian as Deputy Secretary General.
“I am here to make our economies stronger through initiative, entrepreneurship, trade and investment. There is a foundation on which we need to build. I consider this a personal challenge, perhaps with the help of over a hundred thousand Macedonians who now call Canada home”, Ambassador Cameron said, highlighting her commitment to deepening and strengthening all ties that unite the two countries, in order to build on the strategic partnership, advance our country towards the European Union and expand our shared commitment to security, democracy and prosperity.
President Siljanovska Davkova wished Ambassador Cameron success in carrying out her responsible diplomatic mission.
