President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Peru resident in Bucharest, Gloria del Carmen Olivares.

Siljanovska-Davkova stressed that the two countries have been building friendly relations for 20 years, based on mutual understanding and respect.

“It is time to enrich cooperation with new forms and contents. In an era of globalization, artificial intelligence and digitalization, geographical distance becomes relative”, she said.

According to the President, there are great opportunities for promoting cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, culture, tourism, education and science.

Given the difficult times we live in, the President sees the strengthening of multilateralism as a functional mechanism of negotiation as a solution to the numerous and complex problems within the United Nations, whose role has been minimized beyond recognition.

Ambassador del Carmen Olivares assessed that the two countries, although geographically distant, share fundamental values such as democracy, defense of human rights and respect for the rule of law, as well as common goals such as peace, progress of our peoples, stability and institutional strengthening.

She expressed her conviction that during her term, her leading task will be further development of bilateral relations. She said that the two countries should work together, in the spirit of mutual respect, and make every effort to attain their full potential for growth.

The President wished the Ambassador success in carrying out her important and responsible office.
