Siljanovska-Davkova meets with Jakob Granit, Director General of SIDA

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received Jakob Granit, Director General of the Swedish International Development Agency – SIDA, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of Sweden, Ami Larsson Jain.

Expressing gratitude for SIDA projects implemented so far in the country, the President said that the Agency has played a key role in strengthening the non-governmental sector and Macedonian democracy through financial assistance in the amount of 10 million euros for 2024, half of which was intended for the non-governmental sector, 30 percent for multilateral organizations, and 18% for the public sector, i.e. for projects in the field of human rights, democracy, gender equality and climate change.

The Director General of SIDA, who is on a several-day visit to the country, highlighted the long-standing partnership with the Macedonian government and numerous state institutions and expressed readiness to continue and deepen the established cooperation. He expressed interest in investments in the development of infrastructure and transport, primarily in railway, as well as in environmental protection, and announced the possibility of cooperation in the textile industry.

The interlocutors also discussed the Macedonian Euro-integration process, taking into account that Sweden is a country that, as EU member, has a highly respected voice and can offer valuable knowledge and expertise in various areas.

In addition to political support, Siljanovska-Davkova assessed, Sweden also practically contributes to the advancement of our EU reform agenda, and our goal is this partnership to continue in the future.
