President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova voted in the first round of the Local Elections at the “Kole Nedelkovski” Primary School in the municipality of Centar. In a statement to the media, she said that she expects decent, fair and democratic elections.
“I expect the 30-year electoral experience to be repeated, so I expect decent, fair and democratic elections. It is a little more complicated at first glance, there are more lists, but in my opinion, this gives them greater democratic legitimacy in the elections. It turned out that, although the MPs failed to do what is their basic obligation, to fill the legal gap after the Constitutional Court’s decision, the fear was unfounded. Yes, there are more candidates as far as I can see, but the citizens probably are given more choice. I fulfilled my civic obligation, I expect other citizens to do the same. It was calm inside; it looked like an ordinary day. I expect to hear the results today. Of course, since there is a second round for mayors, I think that what I saw today, a boring electoral civic picture, will be the same picture for the second round”, the President said after the vote.
