20 February 2025 | Press Releases

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today Nikica Mojsovska-Blazeski, Director of “Macedonia 2025”, and discussed strengthening and deepening relations with the diaspora.

At the meeting, the Director introduced the President to the concept of the “Macedonia 2025” Summit, as a rare opportunity for networking, establishing new partnerships and cooperation with potential investors.

The interlocutors agreed that the diaspora should and can be an important factor and actor in the Macedonian economy, politics, education, science, culture and sports. They pointed to the need to integrate the diaspora into all Macedonian spheres and processes.

The Director welcomed the idea of establishing a National Council for Diaspora, which should unite different profiles and prestigious and proven personalities, expressing readiness for cooperation. The necessity was highlighted of creating an integrated database, i.e. a registry of the most successful.

The President and the Director agree that establishing intensive ties between the diaspora and the Socio-Economic Council in the government, and especially with the Emigration Agency, is of exceptional importance for successful communication.

Both believe that the de-bureaucratization of the procedures for obtaining Macedonian travel documents and other documents, as well as the improvement of diplomatic and consular services, are a necessary step for continuous communication of the homeland with the diaspora.

Completing the registries of the most successful and globally recognized will provide insight into the precious social capital we have in the diaspora, necessary for the challenges inseparable from digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

According to them, it is time to express due respect by awarding titles and awards for excellence and merits to the homeland to those who have contributed to its undeniable affirmation worldwide.

The President expressed willingness to be the patron of the “Ohrid Camp for High-Technological Excellence” for children from the country and the diaspora this year, and a sincere desire to support their creativity, intelligence, knowledge and innovation.
