President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with representatives of the Mountaineering Club “Ljuboten” on the occasion of the centenary of the oldest Macedonian mountaineering club.
Congratulating them on their great anniversary, she said that not only she, but also the general public appreciates and highly values their previous activities in mountaineering, in which they recognize not only sport, but also a special philosophy of life, inseparable from coexistence with nature, inspired by environmental awareness and the determination to nurture, preserve and leave it as a legacy to future generations.
The President emphasized the unique and unforgettable beauty of Sar Planina, singling out “Leshnica” as its mountain pearl and recalling the wonderful times of manifested and proven love and respect for the mountain and nature.
The club representatives, as lovers of Sar, spoke with particular dedication about the implemented projects, but also about the upcoming activities this year, such as: the traditional climb of Titov Vrv, the summer night climb of Ljuboten, the youth camping in Vratnica and the realization of the mountain race.
The guests informed the President about the Ceremonial Academy, as a central event within the celebration, in which numerous societies from the country and the region will participate.
The President expressed particular interest in some of the Club’s projects, such as: the Museum of Mountaineering and Skiing, the first Info Center for Sar Planina and the renovation of the Mountaineering Lodge “Ljuboten”.
According to her, the constant care and protection of nature is not only an individual and collective, nor a local, but also a national obligation towards future generations who have the right to a healthy and beautiful environment, as an undisputable and inalienable human right.
The century-old story of Sarplanina, the President believes, must continue as an unreserved love for nature, heights, greenery, snow, waters, meadows, flowers, silence and peace!
“Ljuboten” is the recognized and respected writer.
