President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova awarded today the certificates to the participants of the fourth edition of the “Ohrid High-Tech Excellence Camp”, which is held under the auspices of the President of the country and organized by Macedonia2025.
The participants of the Camp, presented to President Siljanovska Davkova their projects on this year’s topic First Lego League – competition for educational robotics, which is a creative combination of art and technology in the process of creating a masterpiece – “Masterpiece Challenge”, by finding unique real life solutions.
Congratulating the outstanding projects in the field of robotics, which the young people have made during the past few days at the Camp, President Siljanovska Davkova emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in education and the necessity to stimulate the development of high-tech skills, pointing out that the mind develops with Lego blocks and through play.
The President said to the participants of the Camp that the future is in technology, that without scientists the world cannot move forward, and that they are the pioneers, who have the mind, knowledge, creativity, the spirit of teamwork, who inspire and therefore, she added, the state should take care of the best, recognize and value the qualities, in order to reduce the brain drain, among other things. In that context, she added that there is undoubtedly a need for reforms in the educational system, as well as adapted programs, appropriate to children’s talents.
Encouraging the young people to continue upgrading their knowledge and skills, the President said that they are our ambassadors and promoters and expressed confidence that some of their ideas will be successfully implemented in the future.
During the visit, she pointed out the importance that, in addition to the educational component, the Camp allows the participants to get to know the homeland better, to explore the natural beauties, cultural heritage and Macedonian tradition.
In this year’s edition of the Camp participate 21 students aged 11 to 15 from the country and the Macedonian diaspora, from the United States, Malta, Sweden, Qatar, Italy and Croatia, who are trained in introductory programming and robotics according to world standards and knowledge based on the internationally licensed Young Engineers platform and by applying interdisciplinary approach in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), using Lego bricks.
