President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received Rita Columbia, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the country.

The meeting discussed the plans of the United Nations, related to the implementation of upcoming projects with a focus on the strategic priorities included in the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2030.

The President pointed out the importance of the United Nations programs implemented so far in view of building institutional capacities, promoting the rule of law and defining quality public policies. According to the President, they are correlated with the efforts for Europeanization of the Macedonian society and fulfilling the strategic goal – integration into the European Union.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the UN80 initiative, the aim of which is to encourage reform and modernization of the organization for greater efficiency and relevance in dealing with global challenges.

They analyzed its significance for reexamination of the role of the United Nations and addressing security, climate, economic and technological challenges.

The President pointed out the urgent need for deep reform of the UN in order to ensure an efficient, coordinated and responsive system to the real needs of states and citizens. She once again affirmed her commitment to a female Secretary-General.

Siljanovska-Davkova also hoped that the planned budget restrictions, corresponding to the initiated rationalization of the work of the UN, would not negatively affect the implementation of their programs in our country.
