President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with Lolita Hasani Grassman, Advisor for Institutional Cooperation and Communication at the Roma for Europe Foundation based in Brussels, and Rexhepali Cupi, Director of the Roma Education Fund for our country and Serbia, based in Bucharest.
At the meeting, the interlocutors informed the President about the current activities aimed at developing skills, educational programs, increasing employment opportunities and sustainable economic participation of the Roma.
The guests expressed their desire and hope for cooperation with the Government in order to promote the economic inclusion of the Roma community, as well as its economic empowerment. It was also announced that the Roma Education Fund plans to open a HAB center in Suto Orizari, which will work with children, parents and teachers on digitalization, new learning methodologies and development of skills for future employment and leadership.
The President emphasized that education is a key factor in social mobility, as it helps build self-confidence and leadership. According to her, young educated Roma become inspiring role models in the community and bearers and drivers of positive change. For her, inclusion in preschool and primary education directly affects the future success of Roma students, because without quality education, opportunities for decent and dignified employment are limited.
She believes that access to education for Roma children is a priority, because only through early and continuous educational inclusion can we ensure social integration, protection from risks and equal opportunities for the future. According to the President, the economic and educational integration of Roma is important for social development, assessing that partnership with international organizations can contribute to strengthening their opportunities and chances for long-term integration. She believes that joint initiatives are key to improving the position of the Roma community and progress.
