President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met today at the People’s Office in Skopje with representatives of the civil association “SANO”, which unites parents and children who have defeated or are still fighting cancer.
They informed her about the past and current work of the association, as well as the problems and challenges they face.
The mothers of the cured children reflected on the hard-won victory over the disease, but also on the lack of greater understanding and support in it.
According to them, coping with the serious illness would be much easier if there was financial support from the state in the form of monetary compensation during hospital treatment, as well as in the first 5 years after treatment due to the high risk of the disease returning during this period.
The children introduced the President to their educational and cultural activities, as well as their intentions and expectations.
The President expressed admiration for their heroic struggle and victory over the wicked disease, encouragement to realize youthful dreams, and deep understanding of their rational demands.
She pointed out the possibility of “SANO” using the space of the People’s Office to introduce the public and raise awareness of their enormous problems.
