President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with the Chairman of the Board of the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD), Argie Bellio, and representatives of this organization: Gordan Jordanov, Filip Jotevski, Mara Kuhn and Emily Abramczyk.
Siljanovska-Davkova was informed about UMD’s activities that are being implemented to strengthen cultural, economic and educational ties between the diaspora and the home country. They presented the platform for sharing experiences, networking and increasing their employment opportunities through Macedonian companies.
The President said that she appreciates UMD’s commitment to preserving and promoting Macedonian identity and culture worldwide, assessing that their activities make a significant contribution to connecting the Macedonian diaspora and have lasting significance for the protection of Macedonian cultural heritage.
After the meeting, Siljanovska-Davkova received students from the “Birthright Macedonia – Rodum od Makedonija” program which this year is implemented for the ninth time by UMD in partnership with the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation – MCIC.
The students informed about their stay in the country, as well as about their internships in companies through which they upgrade their academic knowledge and skills. They believe that the program not only enables them professional development, but is also an excellent way for them to connect and better understand the cultural and spiritual wealth of the homeland of their ancestors.
The President wished them a successful stay in the country, expressing hope that with their enthusiasm for connecting with their roots, they will inspire future generations from the diaspora to get to know the Macedonian state.
