President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova met with Edmond Sotir, actor, founder and organizer of the “Macedonian Cultural Summer” festival, which this year will be held for the 20th time in Prespa, municipality of Pustec in Albania.
Congratulating the two-decade anniversary, Siljanovska-Davkova stressed that the festival is extremely important, not only for Macedonians living in Albania, but also for all Macedonians wherever they are. With this festival, as she said, despite all the challenges of the Macedonian minority in Albania, Macedonian tradition, culture and identity are nurtured beyond the national boundaries.
At the meeting, Sotir introduced the President to the program that has been determined so far and said that this year’s edition of the “Macedonian Cultural Summer” festival will open on 1 July with the participation of the masterful musician and professor Dragan Dautovski.
The interlocutors also discussed the financial challenges the festival is facing, as well as the inconsistency and discontinuity of support from Macedonian and Albanian state institutions. Expressing readiness for support, Siljanovska-Davkova said that she would find a module to recognize the festival for its special contribution to the promotion of Macedonian culture abroad.
