On the occasion of September 8, Independence Day, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, together with Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska, met today talented students from primary and secondary schools who participated in international science olympiads and competitions last school year, some of whom were decorated with medals, high awards and recognitions.
Students from the Association of Mathematicians of Macedonia, the Association of Chemists and Technologists of Macedonia, the Macedonian Geographical Society, the Association of Informatics Scientists of Macedonia, the Society of Physicists of Macedonia, the Macedonian Biological Society, the Philosophical Society of Macedonia, the Association of Secondary Schools TERA PHYTON ANIMAL – Sveti Nikole, the Association of Music and Ballet Pedagogues, the Association of German Language Teachers and students who individually participated in international competitions, in the company of their mentors, filled the Mosaic Hall with youthful energy, intelligence and knowledge. Surrounded by dozens of students, the President expressed satisfaction with their presence and pride that the country has competitive smart young people in such numbers and with so many gold, silver and bronze medals in mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics… Speaking about new technologies and artificial intelligence, she also pointed out the dangers, in addition to the advantages, as well as the importance of human emotional intelligence.
For her, there is no better day to recognize and express gratitude for their successful competitions, as sure proof that in science, education and culture, David can defeat Goliath! She wished them many more awards, but also leading positions in the country one day, as a prerequisite for social progress.
Congratulating the students’ success, the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, said that everyone has the right to education, but that she and the government will continue to support the best students, freeing them from worries about travel and accommodation and allowing them to devote themselves to the competitions, instead of burdening themselves with financial problems.
She called on the students not to forget their homeland, whose future depends on them.
President Siljanovska-Davkova and Minister Janevska expressed their desire to meet again next year with an even larger number of students, winners of recognition for their successes in competitions around the world!
