President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, resident in Bucharest, Abdelmadjid Naamoune.
His appointment, as the President said, is another confirmation of the good Macedonian-Algerian relations, based on mutual understanding and respect.
For her, the dedicated and professional engagement of Ambassador Naamoune will contribute to the deepening of the friendly and partnership relations on a bilateral and multilateral level.
Stressing that both countries have a rich history and valuable cultural heritage, Siljanovska-Davkova expects an intensification of cooperation in culture, education and tourism, as well as within the framework of the UN and other international organizations.
At the ceremony, the newly appointed Ambassador Abdelmadjid Naamoune emphasized his desire to build new bridges of friendship and mutual understanding.
Both expressed concern about the geopolitical challenges faced by all states and nations, regardless of geographical location and size. They stressed the need for multilateralism as an appropriate response and mechanism for solving problems.
In a pleasant conversation, Siljanovska-Davkova and Ambassador Naamoune agreed that the adoption of a legal framework for regulating mutual relations, as well as the exchange of visits at the highest level, would encourage cooperation.
The interlocutors also had a coordinated position regarding the need for reform of the United Nations, as well as the necessity of appointing a woman to the highest position – Secretary-General.
