Siljanovska-Davkova: Schools should be places where you gain knowledge, cultivate respect and develop friendship

1 September 2026 | Press Releases

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova attended the ceremonial reception of the first-graders at the “St. Kliment Ohridski” Primary School in Ohrid today, wishing them a fruitful and restless pupil’s life, driven by curiosity, a thirst for learning in the search for new knowledge, sound competition and well-deserved success.

She reminded the first-graders, as the youngest in the school, of the natural Ohrid obligation related to Kliment and Naum, the most prominent students and followers of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, to preserve and continue their great educational and spiritual work.

Speaking about education as the foundation of personal and social development, Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized that knowledge is the best investment in oneself, because learning brings not only greater understanding, but also independence, tolerance and the ability to think and act critically.

She encouraged the first-graders to ask questions, read and write, to fight not only for grades, but for knowledge.

The President said that schools must be pleasant, inspiring educational corners, a safe place in which every child feels respected and accepted, in the spirit of togetherness.
