President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (resident in Rome), Abdullah Ali Ateeq Obaid Alsubousi, today.
Expressing gratitude for the personally delivered invitation to participate in the United Nations Water Conference, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 December, the President emphasized the importance of sustainable water resource management and ensuring access to clean and safe water.
The Ambassador briefed her on the current situation in the UAE, the efforts toward peace and stabilization in the region, as well as on the initiatives, expectations, plans and activities taken by the country.
The President first expressed deep condolences regarding the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a prominent member of Dubai’s ruling family.
Regarding events in the Middle East, she welcomed the UAE’s constructive and responsible role in ensuring sustainable peace and stability.
The interlocutors assessed bilateral relations as excellent, noting that they are based on mutual respect and understanding. However, both recognize the potential for new activities in tourism, energy, education, culture, agriculture and infrastructure.
In this regard, the President highlighted investment opportunities concerning Corridors 8 and 10, as well as in free economic zones.
She welcomed the establishment of the visa-free regime and expressed a desire for re-establishment of the direct Skopje–Dubai flight route. She also views the potential opening of a resident UAE embassy in Skopje as an institutional step leading to improved relations, increased business activity and closer ties between citizens.
Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed and commended the mutual support within international organizations, in the spirit of multilateralism.
She invited the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to visit the country.
