President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, as part of her participation in the Climate Change Summit (COP29) in Baku, had a meeting with Kitty van der Hejden, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed from the continued fruitful cooperation in several key areas related to the well-being of children and youth in the Macedonian society, with a special focus on equality, inclusiveness, promotion and protection of their rights.
In the context of climate change and its effect on children’s lives, President Siljanovska Davkova and the Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, van der Hejden, emphasized the importance of policies aimed at promoting sustainable development and green initiatives for environmental protection. In that direction, it the need for our country to include the issue of children in its third National submission for climate action was stressed, in order to create systemic mechanisms for their protection from climate change.
President Siljanovska Davkova reaffirmed the readiness of the Macedonian institutions for further cooperation with UNICEF, in view of creating conditions for every child to have equal chances and opportunities to use their potential, access to quality education, health care and protection.
