President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova received today the heads and representatives of the religious communities listed in the Constitution: the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric H. H. Stefan, the Head of the Islamic Religious Community, Reis ul Ulema Haji Shaqir Efendi Fetai, the Head of the Catholic Church, Bishop of Skopje and Diocese of Strumica – Skopje, Kiro Stojanov, Superintendent of the Evangelical – Methodist Church, Marjan Dimov, the President of the Jewish community, Pepo Levi, as well as the Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Religious Groups, Darian Sotirovski.
At the meeting, President Siljanovska Davkova thanked for the congratulations sent on the occasion of her assuming office.
President Siljanovska Davkova expressed her willingness to cooperate with all religious communities and religious groups in the country, in the interest of mutual understanding and respect.
The President stressed the importance of religious communities in nurturing coexistence, as an important prerequisite for prosperity and progress of the state, and expressed confidence that religious communities will continue to make an active contribution to efforts to maintain and further develop good inter-religious relations.
President Siljanovska Davkova welcomed the work of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Religious Groups and its contribution to building trust and cooperation between religious communities and religious groups, protecting the secular character of the state and promoting the religious freedoms and rights of citizens.
