Respected fellow citizens,
I extend my most cordial congratulations on the occasion of October 11 – the Day of the People’s Uprising!
On today’s great holiday, we once again pay tribute to those who 84 years ago embarked on a difficult and courageous insurgent march, sacrificing themselves for the liberation of the homeland and the creation of a Macedonian state of equal citizens.
Let me remind you: the insurgents realized the vision of their ancestors for a free and independent state with blood. Once again, it has been confirmed that taking fate into one’s own hands and standing on the side of justice, against the greatest evil – fascism, is a victorious step!
The resistance and anti-fascist struggle of the Macedonian people, at a time when much larger and stronger nations joined the axis of evil, or distanced themselves from the war, are proof that freedom, justice and equality are woven into our libertarian and revolutionary tradition as an inseparable element of the Macedonian DNA.
In the dramatic days of World War II, we showed that united, regardless of social, ethnic, religious, ideological or other affiliation, we can defeat strength and injustice. Therefore, the celebration of October 11 is not only a reminder of a glorious epic, but a call for its continuation with a dialogue in peace.
We live in a difficult time of wars and military threats, shameful for the 21st century. We are burdened with essential problems in terms of law, justice, humanity and solidarity. We are faced with new challenges, atypical of democracy. We are required to have Ilinden and Partisan maturity, wisdom and courage in making key decisions.
We must be united and cohesive again if we want to preserve what we inherited from those who set out on an insurgent march, guided by a clear vision, ready to sacrifice in the liberation mission!
