Ahead of the 47th edition of the “Manaki Brothers” International Cinematographers’ Film Festival, President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the Festival’s patron, met with Director Dimitrija Doksevski, an actor, screenwriter and producer, and Marija Dimitrova, a producer and President of the Association of Film Professionals.
Doksevski and Dimitrova briefed her on the impressive program, which features over 80 films and more than 20 educational events centered on cinematography and unique visual language.
The 47th edition is distinguished by the presence of renowned figures from world cinema, including Dan Laustsen, recipient of the “Golden Camera 300” Lifetime Achievement Award, and Jeff Cronenweth, who is being awarded the special “Golden Camera 300” for outstanding contribution to the art of film. Also noteworthy is the return of the Polish-American cinematographer and two-time Oscar winner Janusz Kamiński, who received the “Golden Camera 300” in 2020.
According to the President, the Festival’s longevity and high artistic standards and criteria establish “Manaki Brothers” as an event of international stature. Bitola, she believes, when its opening and closing are marked by Macedonian films, becomes a global cinematic metropolis of cultural dialogue and competition in which we participate on equal terms, proving that the small can be beautiful and artistically great.
