President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova attended the “Galichka svadba” event, which was held under her patronage again this year.

In the spirit of the centuries-old tradition, welcomed with homemade bread and salt by the youngest from Galichnik, the President attended some of the wedding customs that have been passed down through the Mijak region for centuries, as one of the most authentic expressions of the Macedonian cultural heritage.

After the wedding in the church “St. Peter and Paul”, she joined the newlyweds and the wedding guests in the traditional dance.

Congratulating this year’s newlyweds, Martina Mihajlova and Aleksandar Pendaroski, on their marriage, she presented them with the “Galichka Pafta” – with a motif from the traditional Galichnik costume, which is a symbol of fertility and Macedonian wedding wealth.

Siljanovska-Davkova wished them a life filled with love, trust and mutual respect, and a home filled with understanding and children’s laughter.

For her, family is the most sublime human union, marriage is the art of the impossible and children are its greatest treasure.

This year’s “Galichka svadba” event began on 10 July with the traditional setting of the wedding flag and the symbolic firing of three rifles from the groom’s house, marking the beginning of the wedding festivities.

Year after year, the event attracts more and more visitors from the country and abroad, remaining one of the most recognizable symbols of the Macedonian cultural identity.
