21 April 2026 | Press Releases

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received today representatives of “Macedonia 2025”, led by the organization’s CEO, Nikica Mojsoska-Blazevski.

They informed the President about the outcome of this year’s competition for the Recognition for Special Contribution to Prominent Persons from the Diaspora.

Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed the high quality of the applicants and the principled selection of the awardees, acknowledging their real contribution to the country.

She accepted the invitation, this year again, in her capacity as patron, to present the awards to the winners, within the framework of the ceremonial opening of the traditional “Macedonia 2025” Summit.

Due to the growing interest of the diaspora in returning to the country, but also in encouraging young people and valorizing their contribution, the interlocutors agreed that it would be good to introduce 2 new categories of awards in the future: for young people and for returnees to the country.

At the meeting, Mojsoska-Blazevski also pointed out the institutional problems that the diaspora faces in the process of obtaining Macedonian citizenship.

In establishing the Diaspora Council, both recognize potential for active involvement and influence of the diaspora in the home country.

According to Siljanovska-Davkova, it should include individuals who personify Macedonian unity and enjoy trust in the Macedonian diaspora, which recognizes and values them.

According to the interlocutors, a coordinated inter-institutional approach will facilitate the return of qualified personnel to the homeland.
