8 July 2026 | Press Releases

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova addressed the 36th NATO Summit, which is held in Ankara today.

She stressed that the heads of state and government at the Summit sent a strong message of unity, solidarity and shared responsibility of the allies in dealing with global security challenges.

According to her, the member states have shown a clear willingness to take on their share of the burden in ensuring common security by strengthening their defense capabilities and increasing defense investments.

The President pointed out that the Macedonian state remains a dedicated and credible ally, which actively contributes to the security of the Alliance and continues to improve its defense capacities.

Referring to the European perspective of the Western Balkans in relation to regional stability, Siljanovska-Davkova said that the principles of equality, solidarity and credibility, which are manifested within NATO, should be consistently applied in the process of European integration. According to her, a united Europe cannot be complete without the integration of the region and it is high time to unblock the process of accepting new members after 13 years.

She assessed that cohesion among the allies remains the strongest guarantee for preserving peace, stability and security, adding that peace, dialogue and respect for international law are the fundamental prerequisites for lasting democratic development.

According to the President, the motto “Stronger Europe, Stronger NATO” attains its full meaning only if it is based on unity, democracy and peace.

“Enlarged and united Europe is stronger Europe, but the strongest Europe is the one that lives in peace and remains consistent with the principles and values on which the Euro-Atlantic community is built”, Siljanovska-Davkova said.
