President Siljanovska Davkova meets with Slovenian President Natasha Pirc Musar

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met today with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasha Pirc Musar in Tivat, Montenegro, at the sidelines of the summit of the leaders of the countries participating in the Brdo-Brijuni Process.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions and information about our future in the context of the process of accession to the European Union, with President Siljanovska Davkova expressing sincere gratitude for the strong and open Slovenian support for Macedonian European integration and stressed that the process must not be held hostage to bilateral issues.

Pointing out that the European Union exerts pressure on member states when it is necessary in many other cases, President Siljanovska Davkova said that in our situation leaders and countries who understand our position are necessary, who will help ensure that our voice is heard clearly in the coming period. The President said it is time to emphasize the Copenhagen criteria in the process of integration into the European Union and to confirm the clear commitment to the region.

At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the excellent friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, characterized by mutual support and respect, while the commitments to expand cooperation and strengthen mutual trust, understanding and partnership were emphasized.

In the context of international cooperation, presidents Siljanovska Davkova and Pirc Musar stated that the two countries are aligned with the goals of strengthening multilateralism and promoting peace and sustainable development, and the long-standing cooperation within the framework of the United Nations was highlighted.
