President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova received the Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Religious Groups, Olivera Trajkovska.
At the meeting, the President was informed about the fruitful cooperation between this important independent state body and the leaders of churches, religious communities and religious groups.
Trajkovska and Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized the importance of religious coexistence, based on mutual respect and cooperation for building a harmonious and peaceful society.
In the context of the upcoming reform in the education sector, Director Trajkovska expressed the view that students should be introduced to basic ethical norms by classroom teachers from first to fifth grade. She proposes introducing an elective course in Ethics during the four years, from the sixth to the ninth grade, which would integrate not only the religious, but also the philosophical, sociological, logical, psychological and ethical dimensions. According to her, the subject of Ethics can also be taught by theologians.
The interlocutors pointed out the need for prevention, timely suppression and sanctioning of religious radicalism.
In conclusion, the President stressed the extremely important and responsible role of the Commission in the enjoyment of freedom of religion and enabling legal equality of religious entities.
