President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, as part of her participation in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, attended the meeting of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats and the debate of the Security Council, where she held short meetings with several leaders and representatives of international organizations.
At the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, President Siljanovska Davkova attended the meeting of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, led by the United States, with the aim of unifying international efforts and taking coordinated actions in dealing with the threat of synthetic drugs, which are on the rise globally. US President Biden and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken addressed the meeting.
President Siljanovska Davkova also attended the meeting of the United Nations Security Council, chaired by the Slovenian Prime Minister, Robert Golob, on “Maintaining peace and security in Ukraine”, which discussed the security situation in Ukraine and information was exchanged on the latest developments.
During the United Nations General Assembly, President Siljanovska Davkova met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Woman), Sima Bachus.
The interlocutors shared experiences on the activities undertaken by women leaders to promote and maintain peace and sustainable development and exchanged opinions on the steps that world leaders should take in order to ensure continuous progress in gender equality, strengthening the role of women and their greater involvement in decision-making and policy-making processes.
President Siljanovska Davkova emphasized the readiness of the Macedonian institutions to further continue the successful cooperation with the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, as well as its strong commitment to advancing the overall role of women.
