President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, on the occasion of the start of the new school year, attended today the first day of school at “Jan Amos Komenski” Primary School in Skopje.
President Siljanovska Davkova greeted the first graders at the ceremony, wishing them success in their search for new knowledge.
“Make sure that there is nothing more important than knowledge, to learn to write, to learn to sing, because no one in life can take that away from you”, President Siljanovska Davkova said.
Sharing part of her experience as a pupil, the President said that sixty years ago, as a fourth-grader, she was in the first generation at this school and graduated as the best student, pointing out that “Jan Amos Komenski” was one of the best schools not only in the Republic, but also in Yugoslavia.
“It is worth learning, that is what the famous pedagogue Jan Amos Komenski said, it is worth knowing, not to make your parents, relatives, grandparents happy, but to know that with knowledge you always become more tolerant, better because he who knows – will know how to manage in life too”, the President pointed out in the welcoming address.
The first-graders were welcomed on the first day of school with a suitable presentation prepared by the students of the fifth grade. This year, 110 first-graders are enrolled in “Jan Amos Komenski” Primary School, who will attend the curricula in 4 classes.
