President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with Peter Smallwood, a prominent member of the British Conservative Party, and Ron Nering, Director of International Programs at the American Leadership Institute and former Chairman of the Republican Party of California.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the international, European and regional politics, military conflicts and possible solutions for peace.
Special attention was paid to the Western Balkans and its long and complicated democratic consolidation and European integration.
The importance of the US-Macedonian strategic partnership was reaffirmed and emphasized after the victory of the Republican Party and Donald Trump in the presidential elections.
The meeting expressed agreement that the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU would finally put an end to the danger of destabilization and Balkanization and would lead to its reunification in Europe, where it belongs not only geographically, but also historically and culturally.
Both interlocutors expressed understanding and support for the start of our negotiations with the EU.
