Siljanovska-Davkova meets with the President of the Czech Republic and the Prime Ministers of Estonia and Belgium in The Hague

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in The Hague, met with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Kristen Michal, and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Bart de Wever.

At the meetings, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral cooperation and partnership in various areas and support for the country’s European integration path.

Thanking President Petr Pavel for the principled and consistent support of the Czech Republic, Siljanovska-Davkova pointed to the current challenges and politically motivated attempts to block the country’s European path. She emphasized the necessity of protecting national identity and stressed that issues related to identity or interpretation of history cannot be part of the EU negotiating framework. President Pavel said that the country can count on continued Czech support throughout the European integration process.

Reiterating her clear stance against bilateralization, Siljanovska-Davkova said that she deeply appreciates Estonia’s principled support for the EU enlargement policy and stressed that this process has strategic and geopolitical importance. Estonian Prime Minister Michal pointed out that the country meets the Copenhagen criteria well. He expressed readiness to assist in the process of Macedonian European integration.

The issue of unblocking the European integration path was also in the focus at the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium, Bart de Wever, who said that EU members should have a clearer and more honest stance on enlargement. He stressed that integration must proceed according to the progress and implemented reforms of the country aspiring for membership.
